Belmarsh Live first public presentation at "Noisy Leaks" in Berlin
"We need to ask ourself - if it is human to lock up people in boxes”. Julian Assange
Hello All,
first, sorry that we have been quite for a view days here. Our #belmarshlive project finally hit the road and we had our first presentation at the Vernissage of the Noisy Leaks - The Art Of Exposing Secrets exhibition in Berlin @ Projektraum 145.
We arrived on Oct. 7th in Berlin at the gallery, and had a very warm welcome by Juan and Esther who curated this wonderful exhibition with many International artist, fighting for #JulianAssange freedom.
At this first night, it must have been around 150 people visited the Belmarsh Live installation and for a view moments, felt the torture and conditions Julian has to suffer every day, in HMP Belmarsh in London.
No-one left the installation without a feeling of shock, just within a view minutes of being “incarcerated” and now imagine you have to face this day by day, for over 3 1/2 years now.
Even everybody gone in by free choice and could leave at any time, this very view minutes was enough. It makes you sick to your stomach how Julian is treated by the UK authorities.
Actually, this is exactly the outcome we worked on, we want to expose the torture done to Julian in plain sight.
Today I also want to share with you one more angle, why I wanted to create this installation apart from Julians current situation. A view month ago I saw in an documentary an old interview with Julian. It was done, after he was released the first time out of prison, on bail, in London. (before he had to refuge into the embassy) Julian answered questions by the journalist also with a suggestion. He said that he advise every journalist, ect. to go to a prison and try to being locked up for a view days, and than raise the question “if it is human to lock up people in boxes”.
I was stunned by this, just think for a minute what kind of character the main stream media and the US wanted to paint on Julian, and see his answer full of humanity and empathy for ALL human souls.
He gave us with Wikileaks the tool to the truth, he gave us the right to know, what is in our all interest. For this huge gift he is locked up and silenced. I see it as our absolute duty to help him and his family - help all of us. We need to free him, or none of us will ever be free again. We need to unite in the common purpose, we need to get all hands on deck. As Stella Assange said after one court hearing last year “Every generation has an epic fight to fight, Julian is OUR fight”.
Our Belmarsh Live art installation will be going to several different towns in Germany and Europe now, our next official stop is Leipzig, on Oct. 24th at Nikolaikirche, Leipzig from 16 H to 20 H.
We hope we will see you on the road.
If you like to support us please go to Assange.network

Thank you for what you are doing with "Belmarsh Live".
If a picture can paint a thousand words, a felt experience can surpass a thousand pictures.
We all THINK we know many things from reading about them, seeing pictures and watching videos, but even the first moments of the actual experience opens up a world we didn't even know existed.
